13–27 Manners Street Seismic Strengthening

Location
Wellington

The seismic strengthening of 13–27 Manners Street in Wellington has been successfully completed, delivering a safer and more resilient commercial building in the heart of the city.

The project involved a comprehensive upgrade to improve the building’s performance in the event of a major earthquake, with a focus on exceeding standard compliance and ensuring long-term durability.

Our team was engaged to carry out an independent peer review of the detailed design. This involved a thorough assessment of the proposed structural solutions, including the use of modern seismic fluid viscous damper technology and performance-based design approaches. We worked closely with the design team to ensure the strengthening strategy met both New Zealand and international standards, and that key risks were addressed through robust engineering solutions.

The result is a well-executed upgrade that enhances the building’s seismic resilience while supporting the client’s goals for safety and functionality.
