James has enjoyed a varied career in engineering and design. After completing a Diploma in Applied Technology (Marine), he joined Sensation Yachts, producing working drawings for interior joinery on luxury superyachts.

In 2004, James joined Stiffe Hooker Ltd as a Structural and Civil Technician. While working full-time, he completed a Diploma in Engineering (Civil), graduating in 2014.

James moved to Christchurch with his wife and two daughters in 2019 and joined Structex in June 2026, bringing more than 20 years of industry experience and a practical, solutions-focused approach.

Outside of work, James enjoys cycling, sailing, and exploring the outdoors. He is also a Volunteer Fire Fighter, supporting his local community.
