Prof. James Murray-Parkes brings a rare combination of engineering, physics and mathematics expertise, with a career spanning more than 1,200 major projects across the construction, infrastructure, defence, energy and technology sectors. Recognised for his innovative thinking and ability to solve highly complex technical challenges, James has built a reputation for developing practical solutions where conventional approaches fall short. James provides technical advice to the team from his New South Wales base.

Throughout his career, James has led multidisciplinary teams delivering forensic investigations, technical strategy, computational design, connection engineering and product innovation. He is particularly known for his work in high-load structural connections, modular construction and advanced engineering research, with projects ranging from major stadiums and high-rise buildings through to defence infrastructure and specialised industrial systems.

A passionate innovator and lifelong problem solver, James has contributed to over 100 applied patents and helped establish industry-leading initiatives including the Australian Engineered Fasteners & Anchors Council and the Modular Construction Codes Board. He has also held senior academic appointments at Swinburne University of Technology, Monash University and the University of Melbourne, reflecting his commitment to advancing engineering knowledge and challenging traditional thinking.
